Frequently Asked Questions
Montgomery County Rehab
& Sports Therapy, PC
What happens during my first visit?
Arrive at your appointment on time with your physician's prescription for therapy and
your insurance information. You may also download our paperwork off of the
"Patient Information" page of this website. (Welcome to Therapy, Patient
Information, Privacy Practices Notice, Privacy Practices Acknowledgement)
The therapist will take a medical history, take your current problems/complaints, the
impact of the problem on your activities of daily living, medications, tests, and other
procedures related to your health.
The therapist will then perform an objective evaluation which may include the
following: palpation, range of motion, muscle testing, special tests, and posture
assessment.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please make sure to bring your prescription for physical therapy and all of your
payment information. If your coverage is through a workers' compensation, motor
vehicle accident, or any other personal injury claim be sure to include your claim
number and all contact information for that insurance company. Back-up insurance
on these claims is also needed.
How should I dress?
Please wear loose fitting clothing that will allow the therapist access to the affected
area. Make sure your sleeves can roll up if the therapist needs to get to your
shoulder.
How long will each treatment last?
Each session will last between 60 and 80 minutes.
Do I have to see a doctor first, or can I go directly to a physical therapist?
In Pennsylvania we are a Direct Access Provider which means you can actually go to a
physical therapist WITHOUT a doctor's prescription.
If my problem or pain reoccurs, may I come back?
You may return to us whenever you like. Flare-ups are not uncommon, if a flare up
occurs do not hesitate to call us right away.
How many visits will I need?
The answer to this question varies. Everyone heals at a different rate, and everyone
response to treatment differently. You will be re-evaluated every 30 days or 10 visits
and based on your physician’s orders, treatment will continue or discontinue.
What will I have to do after physical therapy?
Unfortunately some insurance carriers put limits on physical therapy benefits, and
sometime these limits do not allow us to rehabilitate to our fullest potential. We offer
a workout membership to our ex-physical therapy patients as kind of a step-up
program where there will always be a therapist on staff to answer any questions
about maintaining your rehab program on your own. Please be aware of your
insurance coverage. If you are unsure I ask that you call the member services number
on the back of your card and become aware of your benefits for physical medicine.
